Cardiovascular Disease Prevention and Wellness
Heart disease remains the #1 cause of death in the United States, and Virginia is ranked in the bottom half of cardiovascular survival. Philanthropic support plays a key role in supporting Inova Schar Heart and Vascular’s work to reverse health disparities and enhance health equity through education, advocacy and improved access to high-quality care and screenings.
Women’s Cardiovascular Health
Heart disease is the leading cause of death for women in the U.S. We focus on the unique challenges and risks of heart disease in women, offering personalized, comprehensive care from early detection and risk assessment to managing cardiovascular health during pregnancy, menopause, and inflammatory conditions. Our goal is to improve outcomes for every woman we serve.
Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery and Interventional Cardiology
Inova Cardiac Surgery Services and Interventional Cardiology are high-volume, high-performing programs specializing in state-of-the-art surgical techniques. We lead in minimally invasive heart surgeries, robotic-assisted heart bypass, and catheter-based treatments for repairing arteries, weakened blood vessels and heart valves.
Vascular Medicine and Surgery
We provide comprehensive care for vein and vascular conditions, including high-risk cases. Our skilled vascular surgeons collaborate across all departments, including with specialists in cardiology, endocrinology, wound care, and plastic surgery to identify risk factors, manage complexities, and prevent disease progression.
Advanced Cardiopulmonary Care and Transplantation
We provide the full spectrum of therapies for patients in advanced stages of heart failure and lung disease, focusing on preventing disease progression. Our physicians are leaders in transplant care, with one of the region’s few programs certified for both heart and lung transplants.
Structural Heart Excellence and Innovation
Our goal is to foster innovation, uniting experts from various medical disciplines and partnering with other leading healthcare institutions, industry partners, the NIH, and academic institutions to share knowledge, best practices, to address the growing need for specialized structural heart disease care.
Cardiovascular Aging
We’re addressing the unique cardiovascular needs of our aging population with specialized outreach, screening, diagnosis, and treatment. With remote consultations and monitoring and extensive cross-departmental collaboration, we provide full comprehensive care.
