Inova Institute – Part 1: “In Plain Sight – Trafficking in Our Community with Elizabeth Smart”

Join us as Elizabeth Smart shares her personal story of abduction, as well as the work her foundation is doing to prevent and advocate for sexual assault victims. She will be joined by members of the
Inova Ewing Forensic Assessment and Consultation (FACT) team to discuss child trafficking in our community, and how as the only health system in the area that has such a program, Inova is are working to combat this prevalent issue.

Inova Institute – Part 3: “On the Rise: Adolescent Suicide as a Public Health Threat”

The rise in suicides is staggering, particularly in teens and young adults ages 15-34. As a leading researcher and expert on suicide prevention in the Washington, D.C. metro area, Christianne Esposito-Smythers, PhD, will share her experience on how to identify the warning signs, what we can do to prevent suicide, and what programs are available in the community. She will also be joined by members of the Inova Behavioral Health Services team from the Inova Kellar Center who focus solely on behavioral health services for children, teens and families.
