COVID-19: How Can I Help?
Times like this reinforce that your dedication to Inova allows us to provide world-class care every day no matter what the situation — we are most grateful. Here are some ideas for ways you can support Inova at this time.
Inova’s Emergency Preparedness Fund helps ensure that we have a ready source of flexible funding to meet the community’s escalating healthcare needs during a crisis, both now and in the future. Today, the fund is helping to cover emergency time off for our care teams, childcare expenses, specialized equipment for the unique needs of COVID-19 patients, increased services for telehealth and homebound patients, and other resources to address the rapidly-changing situation. Please consider supporting the evolving needs of our community with a donation to Inova’s Emergency Preparedness Fund.
The holidays will look different for all of us this year, but especially for children who will spend the holidays in the hospital. For the safety of our patients and staff, Inova Children’s Hospital cannot accept toys, books and other donations for pediatric patients. But during this special time of year the need is still great, so Inova is inviting the community to support our “virtual” toy drive with a monetary donation or by hosting your own online fundraising “toy drive” and promoting it on social media. All funds raised will be used to spread cheer to Inova’s youngest patients, most especially those spending the holidays in the hospital.
Inova’s team of researchers has many innovative clinical trials underway to help identify effective treatments for COVID-19—all of which have huge potential for societal impact. To get this done, we are partnering with universities as well as pharmaceutical and biotech companies, but some studies remain unfunded, especially those that are Inova-initiated. To support Inova’s work, please consider a gift to Inova’s Emergency Research Fund.
The Team Member Compassion Fund provides financial support for Inova team members who experience a catastrophic event, such as natural disaster, fire or flood; unexpected housing transition; death of a family member; or other extenuating circumstance. In 2020, our team members have contributed more than $150,000 to help their Inova colleagues through the Team Member Compassion Fund. Please join them with a “Gift to the Givers”.
Individuals and organizations can support Inova’s COVID-19 patients and caregivers by hosting their own online fundraising site. We have created an easy-to-use toolkit to help you set up your own peer-to-peer fundraising page, which you can promote via Facebook and other social media channels. Every dollar raised goes to Inova’s Emergency Preparedness Fund supporting patients and our frontline healthcare heroes.
We welcome the community’s messages of gratitude to share with our hardworking healthcare team members who are being called on to work extra shifts to care for our patients. Send a message of encouragement and support, or upload a drawing or video. We will share these across Inova to inspire these compassionate caregivers.
Inova is grateful for donated food to feed our busy care teams.

Inova Blood Donor Services’ blood supply is critically low. We need help from members of our community to make life saving blood donations and to encourage others to donate. One blood donation can save up to three lives!
For more information or to make an appointment, call 1-866-BLOODSAVES (1-866-256-6372) or visit www.inovablood.org.
We are seeking individuals recovered from COVID-19 to donate plasma (colorless fluid part of blood) for a research study. Your donated plasma contains immunoglobulins (immune protection) and this study will use your plasma to help patients currently sick with COVID-19.
